Inside Baseball All-Star Asdrbal Cabrera’s Luxurious Florida Mansion: A Home Fit for a Champion!

The property features a fitness center in a distinct structure and a half-basketball court

Asdrbal Cabrera, a baseball great, paid $7.41 million for his custom-built home in South Florida this week.

The 9,363 square foot house is located in a gated enclave in Southwest Ranches, Broward County, and has views of the sunset from almost every room, according to Giselle Bonetti of Coldwell Banker Realty’s Weston office. Together with Coldwell Banker coworker Nayrobi Garcia, she shared the listing.

According to listing records, the house was initially listed in December 2020 for $8.9 million. The cost was lowered to $8.3 million in July. The underlying property was bought for $1 million in 2016 by Mr. Cabrera, 35, and his wife, Lismar Del Valle Barrios, according to property records.

It was designed by the architecture firm Choeff Levy Fischman of Miami

“He desired a Miami-chic home with land,” Ms. Bonetti said, adding that such a home in the city could cost $30 million or more.

Southwest Ranches, she said, is a very private area with larger pieces of property that provide solitude and views. Ms. Bonetti has helped five players, including Mr. Cabrera, relocate to the neighborhood in the last three or four years, and they are demolishing older Mediterranean homes in favor of modern residences with clean lines and glass walls.

“People want to start from scratch,” she says.

The Cincinnati Reds infielder collaborated on the design with Miami-based architecture company Choeff Levy Fischman, but he never lived there. His girls developed an interest in horses during the construction time, and the family relocated to a more equestrian-friendly neighborhood.

The property encompasses more than 2.5 acres

“The home is so contemporary that a barn in the backyard would not have looked good,” Ms. Bonetti said.

She continued by pointing out that there is a separate gym building and enough room for a second guest house.

The listing lists seven bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a chef’s kitchen, a spa, and a home theater as other features. A half-basketball court, a fire pit, and separate staff housing are also included.

The buyer purchased the property through a limited liability business, according to the records. Ms. Bonetti would not reveal his identity, but she did say he is a European industrialist living in Miami. The property records from the sale are not yet available to the public.

The buyer was introduced to the property in Southwest Ranches by Miguel Serrano of Douglas Elliman.

“The area is quickly becoming the Hamptons of Southeast Florida,” Mr. Serrano wrote in an email.

Venezuelan-born Mr. Cabrera made his Major League Baseball debut in 2007 and has played for a number of organizations, including the Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Indians, and Washington Nationals.

He won the American League’s Silver Slugger Award in 2011 and is a two-time All-Star. He played this season for both the Cincinnati Reds and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
