Exclusive Tour of the Opulent Superyacht Giorgio Armani – a Fashion Icon

Giorgio Armani is a living fashion legend who established a thriving firm while infusing softer, minimalist style into high-end menswear. Giorgio Armani S.p.A. is worth more than $3.1 billion according to Forbes. Meanwhile, his 65-metre superyacht Main is a maritime counterpart of her owner’s modest aesthetic.

Main, built by the Italian firm Codecasa in 2008, has geometric lines and a striking dark-green exterior color. Armani noted that the hue was chosen to disguise the yacht at sea, which is rarely seen in true blue.

The owner handled the 30-month-long construction process. There were two significant requirements from Armani that the yard needed to address. The first was to make sure that the louvre blinds and the windows they cover align perfectly along the boat, enabling sweeping interior views. The second involved expanding the space between the higher and lower saloons by installing a sliding saloon floor on the bridge deck. To give the impression of a stretched-out living room, this was done.

Main’s quarters are, indeed, at the heart of the ship. It occupies virtually the entire main deck and is separated into two sections: a sitting room with a fireplace and a dining space. The first is furnished with two custom-made Armani Casa sofas, stools, and coffee tables. A birchwood central table with cushions instead of chairs is another element of the area. In the meanwhile, the dining room is located on the stern terrace.

Main is definitely a luxury global project, despite her plain clothes. Her side bulwarks are made of layered crystal glass, which allows for better visibility. The interior areas are dominated by natural birchwood, which can be found on the flooring, indoor staircases, Venetian blinds, and bulkheads, while marble is utilized to decorate the bathrooms. The main deck saloon includes an electric fireplace, and the galley is decorated with retro stained glass.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the furnishings on board were created by Armani’s interior design division. Aside from the trees, the interior color scheme consists of metal grey ceilings and dark green walls, which reflect the exterior. In contrast, each guest cabin has its own color scheme, which is reflected in the fabrics used for the Louvre blinds.

According to the designer, military vessels inspired the streamlined design of the yacht. One of the primary ideas was to conceal all technical features and details that would detract from the sleek appearance of the vessel. Thus, tenders are concealed in a foreboding garage that extends directly to the water. Other onboard amenities include a movie theater, leisure pool, an indoor fitness center, and a large sundeck.

Up to 12 people can be accommodated comfortably in 7 cabins thanks to the Main’s interior design. The 14 crew members on board the boat, according to media accounts, undergo three daily clothing changes.

The two Caterpillar engines that power Main allow it to cruise at a comfortable 14 knots and reach a top speed of 17 knots. Additionally, the yacht’s 160,000-liter fuel tanks enable her to go a maximum distance of 6,910 nautical miles. Additionally, she includes “zero speed stabilizers” for comfort when stationary.

Giorgio Armani is still the CEO of Giorgio Armani S.p.A., the luxury house that offers not only garments but also perfume, jewelry, home décor, cosmetics, watches, and other goods. According to Bloomberg, the company’s sales in 2017 was anticipated to be over $2.7 billion. Meanwhile, Armani maintains his position as one of Italy’s wealthiest individuals, with a net worth of $9.3 billion as of April 2019. (Forbes).

Another notable Codecasa project is the 50-meter Regina d’Italia, which was constructed for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, two renowned fashion designers.
